NewsVerder Pumps SA now ABEL to handle dense slurries
Recently-introduced Abel pumps, latest addition to the Verder Pumps SA (VPSA) pump offering, have been well received in South Africa. The double acting piston diaphragm pump range can handle dense slurries (up to 2 SG) at 300m3 at 250 bar or 500m3 at 100 bar – ideal for difficult mining applications such as sludge, slurry and solids handlings. With massive water and energy savings, no wonder VPSA have several orders already in the pipeline, with one confirmed from Xstrata’s Helena Mine. Together with ABEL’s Tjaart van Beek (VP: Sales and Marketing), VPSA recently introduced the impressive range of ABEL positive displacement membrane pumps to several of the project houses situated in Gauteng, as well as the big mining houses in the surrounding area. The reciprocating positive displacement pump range can easily handle dense slurries at 400m3 at 250 bar or 500m3 at 100 bar. These pumps carry on from where their Verderflex peristaltic hose pumps can no longer deliver on capacity, complementing their existing product offering. Featured pumps, all manufactured in Germany, included the ABEL HMQ, HM, CM and the very impressive HMT series. The ABEL HMT triplex diaphragm Pump is single acting, runs at low speed and is able to run dry. The HMT is excellently suited for slurry transfer on mine and mineral processing sites and other heavy duty industrial applications. The piston diaphragm principle ensures unsurpassed reliability, availability and minimal operating costs. ABEL pumps are equipped with pre-moulded diaphragms and protected by a number of different protection and control measures, such as diaphragm positioning and full stroke safety valves in order to guarantee maximum availability. Another important advantage of the HMT is its very high efficiency, which ensures a low power consumption. The combination of high reliability, low parts requirement and low power consumption makes the ABEL HMT excellently suited for the mining industry. ABEL HMT triplex diaphragm pumps can be used for a large number of applications, such as: Slurry transfer: Mine dewatering: Autoclave feeding: One such pump can replace several centrifugal pumps in series delivering the same distance, easily capable to extent the delivery if specified correctly and thereby reducing total energy consumption, offering huge savings on operating costs, in particular energy and water. VPSA have already received a confirmed order from Xstrata’s Helena Mine on the Bushveld Complex for an ABEL CM pump, which will be pumping flocculent and nickel at 8.33m3/hour with an SG of 2 and discharge pressure of 1.6MPa. The CM technology has optimal design to withstand the high pressures. The Abel Compact Diaphragm (CM) pump is a single piston, single or double acting pump for the transfer of sludges and slurries in various types of industry. Many hundreds of CM pumps have been supplied over the years and the pump has proven itself on numerous applications. |
