NewsAnother solution provided by VPSA
Verder Pumps SA (VPSA) has yet again supplied the correct pump for a difficult application, proving their pumps are worth their weight in gold. In consultation with MDM Engineering, the pump company was awarded a contract to supply specialised slurry pumps for the Chemwes gold and uranium plant in Klerksdorp. “The contract, valued over R2-million, comprises of 22 pumps, of which 15 Verdermag thrust balancing (TB) magnetic drive centrifugal pumps were supplied to pump hydraulic acid, nitric acid, caustic acid, sodium hydroxide and sodium cyanide within the mine process,” says Rob Shaw VPSA sales engineer. The pumps are operated by the magnetic drive principle. The wet ends consist of ethylene tetrafluoroethylene, a plastic with high corrosion resistance and strength over a wide temperature range, enabling very corrosive products to be pumped without using any mechanical seals or gland packing. “The pumps are suitable for pumping up to 15% slurries and volatile liquids, using the non-metallic magnetic drive technology. These pumps are guaranteed to be leak free,” Shaw adds. The pump parts bear the standard industrial classification, which means that they can be easily replaced, if necessary. “At VPSA, we remain determined to provide the most efficient and cost effective solutions for our clients. The TB pump series is only one of the products in our extensive range. The range includes peristaltic hose pumps, air-diaphragm pumps, magnetic drive centrifugal pumps, progressive cavity screw pumps, and reciprocating diaphragm pumps,” states Kasha Wos VPSA marketing manager. “We know that all pump types have advantages and may bear some shortcomings, depending on the type of application but Verder will use this knowledge to choose the right pump for any application,” concludes Wos. |
